Jenny Beckman Places First

In State Poster Contest

 

The Upper Elkhorn NRD has received word that Jenny Beckman from Petersburg has received top honors in the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts State Poster Contest.  Jenny won the Seventh through Ninth Grade Category in the State Contest and will be receiving a $50 savings bond. 

 

Each year the Upper Elkhorn NRD sponsors a District Poster Contest for area students in Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade and asks them to create posters using a certain theme. Last years theme was "Water Is Life". Winning posters from the NRD contest were then forwarded on to the State contest in December. Jenny did an outstanding job creating her poster which can be seen on the Upper Elkhorn NRD website at www.uenrd.org.

Upper Elkhorn NRD Announces

Annual Poster Contest Winners

 

The 18th annual Upper Elkhorn NRD Poster Contest was held this fall with 20 students participating in the competition.  Each year the NRD invites Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade students throughout the District to participate in the poster contest giving them an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents regarding our soil, water and other natural resources.  This year students were asked to incorporate the “Water Is Life” theme into their posters, which were judged in mid November.  This years winners are as follows:

All first place posters were forwarded on to the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts State Poster Contest where they competed against student posters from all across Nebraska.  State contest winning posters are then forwarded on to the national contest sponsored by the National Association of Conservation Districts.
